Jane's adventures
This blog is about my travels. At home in New Zealand, in other parts of Oceania, North, Central and South America and in Europe.
From Miami I set off on my next adventure. There were a few flights involved, but by early that morning I spotted the mysterious shores of Cuba! I landed in Havana and it didn't take long to meet the others at the hostel where we went out for dinner. Havana is full of beautiful old things, old ornate buildings and antique cars that slink the streets like sultry movie stars from a bygone era.

From Las Vegas I traveled to Los Angeles to spend some time with my friend Nova and her husband Richard. We saw some great art shows while I was there. Then I scooted over to Miami, where I swam in the Atlantic ocean, and my tourist visa arrived in the post box of my accommodation for my next destination... Cuba!
From Las Vegas I took the bus to see the Grand Canyon. It is a long bus ride but definitely worth it. The scale of the grand canyon is enormous - its hard to capture it in a photo. At first it was sunny, but clouds started to build on the horizon, and you can see them looming over the canyon in the photos, there was even some thunder and lightening, but luckily our group got back to the bus early and avoided most of the rain. A book I'm reading at the moment talks about the feeling that you get from a first sighting of the peaks in Yosemite. Seeing them is awe inspiring. I'm including some photos below, although it is hard to truly capture the scale of it. Yosemite really is an amazing and iconic place! I'm pleased that camp 4 is a historic place now, its such an important place for climbers the world over. I met some cool people here, and I was even filmed climbing for a documentary :) Yay! Stardom! |
